Based on the 1992 hit film starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act follows the story of
aspiring disco diva Deloris Van Cartier. When she witnesses a murder committed by her
gangster boyfriend, she is placed in protective custody in the last place anyone would
think to look for her: a convent.
Disguised as a nun named Sister Mary Clarence, Deloris initially clashes with the rigid
lifestyle and the convent’s uptight Mother Superior. However, she finds her calling by
using her unique musical talents to inspire the convent’s lackluster choir. She breathes
new life into the church and its community, but her newfound fame threatens to blow her
cover.

The musical features an original, vibrant score by eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken.
(Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors) with lyrics by Glenn Slater. Songs like
“Fabulous, Baby!” and “Raise Your Voice” propel the infectious story forward,
celebrating friendship, sisterhood, and the power of music to bring people together.
The story of Sister Act is timeless, celebrating how a group of unlikely friends can find
their voices together. It’s a dazzling, energetic show with a lot of heart and a sensational
cast that will rock the rafters and leave audiences with a smile. Sister Act is presented
and licensed through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All
authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com.
