Attention residents and travelers in the Eglin area, the 96th Test Wing is set to conduct crucial weapons testing on the Eglin Test and Training Range tomorrow, July 28. As part of the safety measures, several major roads, including Highway 85, 285, State Road 123, and Bob Sikes Road, will be temporarily closed between 9 a.m. and noon.
During the testing period, the roads will be closed for brief intervals not exceeding 90 minutes. Additionally, to ensure the safety of all personnel, the evacuation of the Eglin Test and Training Range (ETTR) will be required.
For safety reasons, recreational activities on the range will not be permitted during the testing period. To familiarize yourself with recreational public access areas, please refer to the provided map below or contact the Jackson Guard Natural Resources Office at 882-4165.
It’s important to note that all Eglin Range roads and access roads will be closed from Highway 87 to 331 for the duration of the mission. However, Highway 87 and 331 will remain open for regular traffic.
In the event of unforeseen circumstances, a back-up mission is scheduled for August 18, also between 9 a.m. and noon.
For the latest updates and additional information regarding road closures, please visit Eglin’s website or contact Eglin Public Affairs at 882-3931.
Stay safe and informed as we work together to ensure the success of these critical weapons testing operations.
