Three students in the Okaloosa County School District’s Okaloosa UP program are celebrating a major accomplishment after graduating from Okaloosa Technical College last week.

Raj Mulwani, Kaitlyn McCarthy, and Nerea “Rea” Agnew crossed the stage surrounded by family, friends, instructors, and supporters as they completed the postsecondary transition program designed for adults with intellectual disabilities.

The Okaloosa UP,  short for Unique Professionals, program provides students with opportunities for continuing education, career exploration, and preparation for independent living in an inclusive college environment. Through hands-on instruction, employability training, and real-world work experiences, students build workplace skills while developing confidence and independence.

Students in the program participate in training opportunities in fields such as culinary arts and carpentry while also engaging in campus activities that encourage social growth and community involvement.

“This achievement represents perseverance, determination, and the incredible impact of opportunity and support,” Superintendent Marcus Chambers said in a statement. “Raj, Kaitlyn, and Rea have worked hard to develop valuable life and career skills, and we are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.”

District leaders said the program’s mission is to prepare students for employment, lifelong learning, and meaningful futures by helping them discover their strengths and develop practical skills for adulthood.

Throughout their time in the program, the graduates engaged in hands-on learning experiences and formed friendships and connections within the college community.

The Okaloosa County School District and Okaloosa Technical College congratulated the graduates on the milestone and wished them success in the next chapter of their journeys.
