OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Three Okaloosa County high schools have earned national recognition for expanding access to advanced coursework and improving student achievement.

The Okaloosa County School District announced that Choctawhatchee High School, Fort Walton Beach High School, and Niceville High School have been named to the College Board’s 2025 AP School Honor Roll — a prestigious distinction that highlights strong performance in Advanced Placement programs.

Choctawhatchee High School received Gold-level recognition, while Fort Walton Beach High School and Niceville High School each earned Silver status.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes high schools nationwide that meet rigorous benchmarks tied to college readiness, student participation, and exam performance. Schools are evaluated across three core areas: expanding access to AP courses, helping students earn qualifying exam scores for college credit, and encouraging students to take multiple AP courses throughout their academic careers.

According to the district, these benchmarks reflect a broader commitment to preparing students for postsecondary success through early exposure to college-level coursework.

Superintendent Marcus Chambers praised the achievement, pointing to the dedication of educators and students across the district.

“Recognition on the AP School Honor Roll is a testament to the dedication of our students, teachers, and school leaders,” Chambers said. “Choctawhatchee High School’s Gold distinction and the Silver recognition earned by Fort Walton Beach and Niceville High Schools reflect our district’s continued commitment to academic excellence and preparing students for future success.”

District leaders say the honor reinforces Okaloosa County’s focus on building strong academic foundations and creating more pathways for students to earn college credit before graduation.
