The Okaloosa County School District earned its latest "A" rating from the state after posting gains across nearly every major academic performance measure.

Okaloosa Schools Continue Incredible ‘A’ Streak with Strong Academic Gains

The Okaloosa County School District has once again earned an “A” rating from the Florida Department of
Education for the 2025–2026 school year, remaining one of only three districts in the state to receive an “A”
every year since 2014.

District leaders report continued improvement in nearly every academic category.

Based on the district’s analysis of Florida’s statewide accountability results, which reflect student on-grade-level
proficiency, Okaloosa County School District advanced from 11th to 8th in the state for 2026.

Under the Florida Department of Education’s official school district accountability system, which measures a combination of student proficiency, year-over-year learning gains, acceleration, and graduation rates, Okaloosa County ranks 15th among Florida’s 67 school districts, placing it among the state’s top-performing districts.

This year, 23 schools earned an “A,” 10 earned a “B,” and 4 earned a “C,” with 89% of schools receiving an
“A” or “B.”

Several schools improved their letter grades, reflecting strong gains across the district. Student
performance data shows consistent or improving results across all categories, including:

  • OCSD improved in 10 out of 12 academic categories
  • Total point increase over three years: 772 (2024), 793 (2025), and 818 (2026)
  • Five schools improved from a “B” to an “A”
  • Two schools improved from a “C” to a “B”
  • Middle school acceleration increased from 72% to 77%
  • Significant growth in social studies achievement from 74% to 80%
  • Content mastery in science across grade levels increased from 67% to 71%
  • Six schools showed major percentage growth for their school grade (7% – 13% increase)
  • The graduation rate went up from 88% to 91%

“Once again, earning an “A” rating from the Florida Department of Education speaks to the strength and
stability of our school system. It is a standard that is only achieved through sustained effort, high expectations,
and a shared commitment to excellence,” stated Superintendent Marcus Chambers. “First and foremost, I want
to congratulate our students. Their hard work, determination, and commitment to learning are at the heart of this
achievement. I want to recognize our outstanding teachers, support professionals, and school and district
administrators whose expertise, dedication, and belief in our students help them reach their full potential every
day. I also want to thank our parents and families for the encouragement, trust, and partnership they provide,
because student success is strongest when schools and families work together. These results do not happen by
chance. They are the product of unwavering commitment, professionalism, and a relentless focus on student
success across every role in our district. Whether in the classroom, driving a bus, preparing meals, maintaining
our facilities, or supporting instruction and operations behind the scenes, every employee plays a vital role in
creating an environment where students can thrive. I am incredibly proud of what this accomplishment
represents. This ‘A’ rating belongs to our entire school community – our students, families, employees, School
Board, and community partners – and is reflected in the continued growth and achievement of students across
every school in Okaloosa County.”

District leaders say they will continue focusing on ELA, math, targeted support, and expanded opportunities for
advanced coursework to ensure continued success for all students. For more information, please visit
