The Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation, a dedicated 501c3 non-profit organization committed to enhancing educational opportunities for all Okaloosa County students, is gearing up for its 3rd Annual BBQ and Bingo for Schools event.

The foundation’s primary mission is to bolster educational opportunities for students across Okaloosa County. This is primarily achieved through the Take Stock in Children scholarship program, which currently assists sixty academically deserving high school students from low-income families. The program not only provides valuable mentoring but also two-year college scholarships. What’s more, all funds raised are generously matched dollar for dollar by the Florida Prepaid Scholarship Program, effectively doubling the local community’s contributions.

Looking ahead, the foundation aspires to increase the number of scholarship recipients to one hundred students over the next five years. Each scholarship carries a price tag of $3,900, making fundraising crucial. The Annual BBQ and Bingo event, slated for Tuesday, October 24th, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the Clubhouse Grill on 1955 Lewis Turner Blvd in Fort Walton Beach, aims to raise funds for these additional scholarships, support the teacher grant program, and further enhance overall student success through various initiatives.

Tickets for this meaningful event are available for $30 per person, with sponsorship levels ranging from $175, $250, to $450. For those eager to support the cause, please reach out to Debbie Tate at tated@okaloosaschools.com.
