The Okaloosa County Commission on the Status of Women is accepting applications for a $500 grant for local organizations that support or benefit women. The deadline to apply is Oct. 15.

Past recipients of the grant include Crestview Area Shelter, Beyond Expectations, and Opportunity Place.

Organizations interested in applying can visit www.occsw.com, click the menu icon, select “GRANT,” and complete the application form.

The Commission, composed of 15 members, holds monthly meetings at the Greater Fort Walton Chamber of Commerce. Meetings are open to the public unless otherwise noted. The Commission’s website provides information on its history, current members, and women who have been recognized for contributions to the county.
