More About Guardian Ad Litem

Guardian Ad Litem chapters in Florida serve the most vulnerable children: the abandoned, neglected and abused. Florida Law requires that Guardian ad Litem serve and protect a child who has been placed in the Florida Foster Care System due to circumstances beyond their control. According to their website, Guardian ad Litem has “been recognized as a best practice in child representation since 1993 and is recommended by many advocacy organizations. In 2021, Guardian ad Litem served 37,000 children across the state of Florida. More than 13,000 volunteers helped to ease the pain children experience in these situations.

Northwest Florida’s Chapter of Guardian ad Litem served more than 2,000 children in difficult situations last year alone. When GaL steps in to provide court-ordered services for a child, the program provides an attorney, a trained volunteer and a child advocate manager certified by the State of Florida to act on behalf of the child.

Northwest Florida Guardian ad Litem is not currently rated by Charity Navigator.
