Safewise.com named Niceville, Florida, the safest town in America for the second year. The website, which monitors crime and FBI statistics, noted that it gave the award to the city because it had the lowest violent crime rate last year – and “there was not enough data to rank cities for 2023.”
“As a councilman, it’s imperative to acknowledge and highlight the sustained level of enrichment exhibited by the Niceville Police Department over the years,” said Niceville City Councilman Abner Williams, “Their steadfast commitment to ensuring safety and upholding the law within our community is not only commendable but also integral to the well-being of our citizens. Their tireless efforts, professionalism and dedication serve as a cornerstone in maintaining peace, security and overall harmony in our city. Their consistent pursuit of excellence is a testament to their invaluable contribution to our community’s safety and prosperity.”
One of the key factors contributing to Niceville’s top safety ranking is a substantial decrease in already lower-than-average violent crime over the past two years.
According to Safewise.com’s data, which spans from 2020 to 2022, the violent crime rate in Niceville plummeted from 1.5 incidents per 1,000 people to an impressively low 0.6 incidents per 1,000 people.
Comparatively, the national average for violent crime stands at 4.0 incidents per 1,000 people, highlighting Niceville’s exceptional safety record. Even within the state of Florida, where the average is 3.8 incidents per 1,000 people, Niceville stands out as an oasis of security.
“For the second year in a row, the City of Niceville has been ranked as the safest city in Florida, and our crime rates have declined every year in the previous three years. Niceville continues to earn this distinction because of the hard work, dedication, and sacrifice of our law enforcement team who go above and beyond every day to protect and serve the wonderful residents of Niceville. I could not be more proud of our Niceville Police Department,” said Niceville City Manager David Deitch.
