Niceville Lacrosse Player Named Taylor Haugen Award Winner

🏆 Taylor Haugen Foundation surprises lacrosse standout, Garrison LeMire, with 2023 Award at Niceville High School! 🥍🎓 Scholarship, trophy, and a bright future await!

The Taylor Haugen Foundation Named Senior Lacrosse Player Garrison LeMire their 2023 award winner with a surprise announcement at Niceville High School’s cafeteria Wednesday morning. 

LeMire, a Midfielder for the Lacrosse team, received the Trophy as well as a scholarship for the honor. He’s received admission into Texas A&M University and will make his decision about where he will go to school, once he hears back from Duke and UNC. According to the Taylor Haugen Foundation, LeMire “hopes to one day work with special operations in a cognitive way, or teach at the college level.”

The Taylor Haugen Foundation, established in memory of a high school student who died from a traumatic abdominal injury during a football game, focuses on educating, protecting, and inspiring youth. Through the YESS© Program, the foundation promotes sports safety by providing equipment to prevent abdominal injuries in contact sports. Additionally, they recognize scholar-athletes with scholarships, aiming to raise awareness and support for the next generation of abdominal injury protection. The foundation’s mission is to educate players, parents, and coaches, protect youth athletes, and inspire future leaders in sports.

More About The Nomination Process

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Nominee must be a senior at an Okaloosa, Santa Rosa or Walton county high school. 1 Nominee per school
  • Nominee must be an athlete who has participated in a FHSAA sport
  • Nominee must have a 3.5 or higher grade point average (unweighted)
  • Nominee must be an active participant in community service
  • Nominee may not be a family member of a Taylor Haugen Foundation executive committee member
  • Nominee must be planning to attend a four year accredited college
