A dedicated military family, the Houghs, will make a stop in Niceville, Florida, on October 17 as part of their inspiring mission to run a 5K in all 50 states to raise awareness and funds for cleft conditions. The family—Jeremy, Kelly, and their daughters, Caroline and Campbell—are advocating for Smile Train, the world’s largest organization focused on cleft treatment.
The Houghs’ passion for this cause stems from personal experience. Campbell was born with a cleft, and while the family was fortunate to receive top-notch care in the U.S., many children worldwide lack access to proper medical treatment. Cleft conditions, which affect approximately 1 in 700 babies, can cause difficulties with speaking, eating, hearing, and breathing. Through their journey, the Houghs hope to spotlight the life-changing surgeries provided by Smile Train at no cost to families in need.
The Niceville community is encouraged to join the family in their run and support the cause. The event will take place at 6 PM, at Boggy Brewing Taproom on Partin Drive in Niceville.
