The girls expected to be off this week for Niceville high school spring break – the boys expected to head to Jacksonville.
The girls won’t take the field – and neither will the boys. here is what’s up:

Rivalry Game Versus FWBHS
The Niceville Boys Lacrosse Team delivered an old school beat down to the Fort Walton Beach High School Vikings in their latest rivalry matchup. The eagles bested the Vikings 18-1 and finished the game with their sixth running clock of the season.
“It was just solid play offensively, defensively and in transition,” said Niceville Eagles Head Coach Lou Albiero after the game.
A stingy defensive effort the Eagles hope to replicate going forward defined the night. Well-drilled defensive play and heads up lacrosse netted 12 takeaways and just five shots on goal for the Vikings.
Eagle Goalie Rhett Thornton only let one behind him on five shots.
Midfielder Dominic Barnshaw also piled up significant defensive stats for the evening. Barnshaw raked up seven ground balls, an interception and a takeaway to add to this goal and two assists.
Barnshaw continues to lead the team in goals scored with 33 on the year.
Keiser University Commit, Senior Marek Albiero, who leads the team in assists and has scored just two fewer goals than Barnshaw, also had an excellent outing. Albiero scored six goals on just seven shots for the evening.
Up Next – Mandarin… maybe not.
The #42-in-the-state (according to maxpreps.com) Eagles were going to travel this Spring Break to take on the Mandarin Mustangs in Jacksonville. But the wednesday game has been cancelled due to the bad weather we are expected to hit the northern portion of Florida this week.
This means that the Eagles next game will be next week against Gulf Breeze High School.
The Breezers are arguably the best team west of the Apalachicola river (or in the central time zone, if you prefer).
The Gulf Breeze Dolphins are ranked #46, just four spots behind Niceville – though those rankings could change as we get closer to the game.
Girls Lacrosse(7-3)(6-0)
Girls Lacrosse doesn’t have a game this week – which is probably good – because they are going to play three games in four days – culminating with rival South Walton on Friday, April 1st.
The Eagles, who’ve all but sealed up first place in their district and boast a #95 state ranking, will host Fort Walton Beach High and visit Pensacola’s Booker T. Washington, before they host the #77 South Walton Seahawks(6-2) on April Fool’s Day.
The overtime loss still stings for the Eagles: a parent filed a complaint with South Walton High School after the last game. A video which circulated on social media showing a South Walton High School Player tripping a Niceville Player in the waning moments of the game.
The Eagles will be wanting a win on April Fool’s Day.
Their final game of the regular season will be at home against another team from south Walton County – they host the Seacoast Collegiate Swordfish (6-1) in a game that was rescheduled due to weather.
