Mayor Daniel Henkel issued a proclamation making October 9-15 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Week in Niceville. 

The recipient of the proclamation, Tobey Williams, is a seven-year survivor of Breast Cancer and says that events like the walk – which raises money for treatments and research – literally saved her life. 

“Numbers [of people at the event] count,” Williams said. The American Cancer Society “raised the money and did the research for the medication that I stayed on for five years, or I would not be standing here tonight.”

The week coincides with the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, which will take place on October 15th at Northwest Florida State College.
