Niceville PD, Okaloosa Deputies Arrest Suspect For Stolen Car After 47th Street Lockdown
Remember that old trap house on 47th and Fir that got knocked down after it was foreclosed on?
Well, it seems that the road near the home has not seen an end to criminal activity that gets the community buzzing.
Okaloosa Sheriff’s Deputies and Niceville Police arrested a suspect for stealing a vehicle near the home Monday morning – after he fled on foot near the intersection of 47th Street and Fir Avenue.
Nicole Wagner, an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office representative, says law enforcement began to track the driver and the stolen vehicle as they headed south on SR-285. “We worked with Niceville PD to follow the vehicle,” Wagner said, “When the vehicle stopped in the area of 47th street, the driver then fled on foot, but has been detained.”
The chase and sealing off the perimeter of the home stirred up a hornet’s nest on social media, where many people discussed what might have happened in the area.
Over the last couple of years, the area had seen more than its share of illegal drug activity. 129 calls to law enforcement calls were made to the area in a five-year period.
Eventually, Okaloosa County’s Board of County Commissioners foreclosed the home using county ordinances and sold it at auction to a homebuilder in the area.
