One of Niceville’s shining stars in education saw her dreams come true when the Okaloosa County School Board unanimously voted to promote Jessica Landry to the position of Assistant Principal at Bluewater Elementary.
The 2022 teacher of the year, who most recently served at Plew Elementary School, graduated from Niceville High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Northwest Florida State College, and her master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of West Florida. Landry represented the school in China as a part of a special exchange program through the university.
“I want to thank the administrators, mentors and colleagues that I’ve been able to work with who’ve believed in me, encouraged me, supported me and always inspired me to continue growing because of their love for learning,” Landry said.
Bluewater Elementary School is the single-highest performing public school in the school district that admits children based on their residence. The school received an A rating from the Florida Department of Education – and has consistently done so every year since 2001.
