Judge Jack Schlechter has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the First Judicial Circuit Court.

Jack Schlechter Appointed to First Judicial Circuit Court

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Judge Jack Schlechter to the First Judicial Circuit Court, filling a vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Bergosh. The Office of the Governor announced the appointment on Feb. 10, 2025.

Schlechter has served as a County Court Judge in Okaloosa County since 2022. At that time, DeSantis appointed Schlechter to the bench to fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Patricia Grinsted. Before his judicial appointment, Schlechter was an attorney at AnchorsGordon, P.A. He worked as an assistant state attorney for the First Judicial Circuit from 2009 to 2019.

Schlechter, a longtime resident of Okaloosa County, was raised in a military family. He currently lives in Niceville with his wife and two children. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law.
