After wild week in the media – West says she’s staying

May 21

Cynthia West will stay in the race and challenge current school board member Brett Hinely for his seat.

The race, which will determine who represents Valparaiso and Niceville on the Okaloosa County School Board – and who will help make decisions for one of the largest employers in Okaloosa County – takes place on August 18th.

Is Cynthia West dropping out of her race for School Board in Okaloosa County?

West told Laura Loomer, a conservative influencer as much on Loomer’s podcast this past week.

“Look how much that cost me,” she said about her allegations that Congressman Thomas Massie emotionally abused her and offered her $5,000 in ‘hush money’ to walk away from a wrongful termination complaint against his ally and her former employer Congresswoman Victoria Spartz. “At this point, I’m pulling out from my school board race, because I’ve got people saying ‘she’s sleeping with 14-year-old boys,’ and it’s like – the impact that this had on not just me, but my family.”

Massie denied the allegations – and lost in the Republican Primary for his house seat to a challenger endorsed by President Donald J. Trump.

We reached out to West about her comments on the Laura Loomer show via text message. She told us, “I have not made a final decision honestly, I’m just trying to wrap my head around what happened.” She added, “I’m praying right now.”

This is a developing story, we’ll update it as we get more information. If you’d like to see our campaign profile of West, see our story here.
