FORT WALTON BEACH — A New York woman was arrested Thursday on a prostitution charge following an undercover investigation at a Fort Walton Beach spa, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) officials said.
Suping Wu, 30, of Flushing, New York, faces one count of prostitution. Investigators said the arrest followed complaints and tips submitted through Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers.
According to OCSO, an undercover officer entered Classy Spa/New Magnolia Health Spa at 8 Racetrack Road on October 9, near the Fort Walton Beach Mall. During the appointment, the officer was taken to a private room, where Wu allegedly offered sexual activity in exchange for $300 while physically touching him.
“Businesses that engage in prostitution not only exploit vulnerable individuals but also contribute to human trafficking, create opportunities for other criminal activity, and negatively impact neighborhoods,” said Sheriff Eric Aden. “This arrest reflects our ongoing commitment to keeping Okaloosa County safe and addressing illegal activity in our community.”
Lt. Jenna Harmon, OCSO public information officer, emphasized the importance of community tips in the investigation. “Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers allows residents to report suspicious or illegal activity anonymously,” Harmon said. “Community involvement is critical in helping law enforcement address issues like this quickly and effectively.”
OCSO officials noted that prostitution can also increase the risk of sexually transmitted diseases and strain public resources. Wu was taken into custody without incident and is scheduled to appear in court. Investigators continue to monitor the area for illegal activity.
