Fort Walton Beach Police Make Arrest After Violent Condo Shooting

FORT WALTON BEACH — A suspect is in custody after two people were shot Sunday night at a condominium complex in Fort Walton Beach, according to police.

Officers with the Fort Walton Beach Police Department responded to the Spanish Villa Condominiums at approximately 10:11 p.m. on June 21 after receiving reports of a shooting with injuries.

When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.

Police said officers immediately began life-saving measures at the scene, including applying tourniquets to control bleeding until emergency medical personnel could transport both victims to HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital for treatment.

Investigators determined that a Honda Civic fled the area following the shooting. Using License Plate Reader technology, officers quickly identified and located the vehicle, leading investigators to a residence in Crestview.

With assistance from the Crestview Police Department Tactical Team, officers took a suspect into custody without incident.

Authorities said the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Fort Walton Beach Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact Detective K. Peyton at (850) 833-9546.

No additional information regarding the victims, suspect, or potential charges has been released.
