TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Florida saw its highest-ever tourism numbers in 2024, welcoming 142.9 million visitors, according to an announcement from Governor Ron DeSantis. The tourism numbers represent a 1.6% increase from 2023, the previous record-holding year.

The fourth quarter of 2024 also set a new record with 33.1 million visitors, the highest visitation for any Q4 period. Of these, 29.9 million were domestic travelers, 2.5 million were from overseas, and 742,000 came from Canada.

“Another record-breaking year is proof that leadership matters, and the Free State of Florida is a model for the nation,” DeSantis said.

Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly credited strong leadership and resilience in overcoming challenges from hurricanes Helene and Milton. Hotel occupancy rose 6.7% in Q4, and total room nights sold increased by 1.6% for the year. Airports across the state saw 3.1% growth in enplanements, with notable increases in Tallahassee, Panama City, and Pensacola.

International tourism also showed a strong recovery, with 8.9 million overseas visitors, a 6.6% increase from 2023 and the closest to pre-pandemic levels since 2019. Canadian visitors rose by 1.2% to 3.3 million.

The state’s tourism industry, a key economic driver, continued to expand despite challenges, reinforcing Florida’s status as a leading destination.
