Florida Governor Ron Desantis has signed a bill into law that will allow anyone who is not a felon to concealed carry a firearm without a concealed weapons permit. The law will go into effect on July 1, 2023.
House Bill 543 makes Florida the 26th state in the United States to pass a bill which allows the concealed carrying of guns without a concealed weapons permit, which costs about $100 to obtain.
“Today, Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill (HB) 543 which strengthens Floridians’ Second Amendment rights by allowing Floridians to carry concealed weapons without a government-issued permit,” a release from the Governor’s office noted.”
The new law still requires a person concealed-carrying any weapon (not just a gun) to carry some form of identification with them – or pay a $25 non-criminal fine.
