Two people were injured Thursday afternoon after an incident at a high explosives facility on Eglin Air Force Base, according to officials and a post on the Air Force amn/nco/snco Facebook page.
The incident happened at approximately 2 p.m. at the High Explosive Research and Development Facility on the Eglin reservation. According to a post on the Air Force amn/nco/snco Facebook page, two personnel were injured and transported by ambulance to HCA Florida Fort Walton–Destin Hospital for treatment.
Emergency crews from Okaloosa County Emergency Medical Services, Eglin Air Force Base Emergency Medical Services, and the Eglin Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded to the scene.
Officials said damage from the incident was confined to the High Explosive Research and Development Facility. Authorities have not released the extent of the injuries or identified the individuals involved.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
