EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Officials at Eglin Air Force Base say military testing operations will take place in the Gulf through the end of the month and are warning boaters to stay clear of the designated hazard area.

The Air Force will conduct munitions testing from March 16 through March 28 between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily, according to officials with the installation.

During testing periods, all vessels are required to remain outside the active hazard zone for safety.

The restricted testing area begins approximately five nautical miles southwest of Destin East Pass and extends 22 nautical miles south into the Gulf.

Boaters and mariners in the area will receive warnings and advisories from the Eglin Joint Test and Training Operations Control Center.

Those alerts will be broadcast on Marine VHF Channel 16 and HF upper sideband frequency 2182 kHz, which are commonly monitored emergency and maritime communication channels.

Officials say the notices are intended to ensure vessels stay clear of the test zone while the military conducts its operations.
