Sharing and Caring of Niceville has received a generous donation just in time for Easter, thanks to the efforts of parishioners at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church. The church, located on Whitepoint Road near Bluewater Bay, donated more than 80 filled Easter baskets to the food bank, with additional donations going to other organizations in the area.
The basket drive, which began in 1992 with just 32 baskets, has grown substantially over the years. This year, the effort provided much-needed holiday cheer to families served by Sharing and Caring, as well as residents of Twin Cities Pavilion and the youth program of the Salvation Army in Fort Walton Beach.
According to Sharon Dooley, who helped coordinate the donation, the basket drive is a longstanding tradition at the church. โItโs kind of my โthing,โ something I started years ago and havenโt stopped,โ she explained. โItโs our Lenten commitment.
The Easter basket drive is just one of the many ways that Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church supports the local community. From food drives to outreach programs, the church is dedicated to helping those in need, particularly during the holiday season. Sharing and Caring and other organizations in the area expressed their gratitude for the generous donation, which will go a long way in making Easter brighter for families in need.
