Eagles Lose to Winter Springs in Heart Stopping 4-3 State Title Game

In a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 FHSAA Class 5A Softball State Championship, the Winter Springs Bears edged out the Niceville Eagles 4-3 on Saturday, May 24, in Longwood, Florida, ending Niceville’s impressive 12-game winning streak.

 

The close loss came the day after the two seniors on the team had an extraordinary adventure, including a private plane to return from their semifinal victory over St. Thomas Aquinas to participate in their graduation ceremonies at Niceville High School.

 

Breakdown of the Game

The Bears struck early, scoring two runs in the second inning and adding two more in the fourth. Niceville responded with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth, but couldn’t overcome the deficit.

 

Winter Springs’ sophomore pitcher, Tiffany Seemann, delivered a complete game, allowing nine hits and three runs while striking out two.

 

Niceville’s Chloe Bailey also pitched a complete game, giving up five hits and four runs (two earned) with eight strikeouts.

 

Winter Springs’ Lilly Clark contributed with a hit and a stolen base at the plate. Niceville’s Briana Noles went 3-for-4, including a double and an RBI.

 

The victory marked Winter Springs’ eighth consecutive win, bringing their season record to 24-8. Niceville concluded their season at 22-7.

 

This championship game showcased the resilience and talent of both teams, with Winter Springs ultimately securing the state title in a closely contested matchup.

 

The Eagles ended the season with a dominant 22-7 record.
