DEVELOPING: Okaloosa County To Meet About Buying Land In Niceville From Eglin For Affordable Housing?

The Okaloosa County Commission will meet to talk about whether or not to acquire land immediately to the west of Northwest Florida State College, located in Niceville, at a special meeting on February 13th.

The Commission will meet at 2:00 PM at the Crestview Courthouse at 101 James Lee Boulevard, Crestview, Florida 32536.

Okaloosa County Public Information Officer Nick Tomecek said the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners planned in past meetings to use the land to build and sell affordable housing in the Niceville area. He believes that the plan is to continue efforts to create affordable housing in the Niceville area.

Tomecek also mentioned the meeting was rapidly called because Eglin approached the county about the purchase and needed a quick answer from the County Commission.

This is a developing story; we will update it as more information becomes available.
