In a disturbing incident, 19-year-old Joshua Adam Smith from Crestview was arrested for allegedly filming an underage girl changing in her Niceville home. Reports suggest a text conversation between Smith and the victim's father, confessing his alleged actions.

Law Enforcement arrested A 19-year-old Crestview man for allegedly hiding his phone to film a girl under the age of 19 changing in her room at her home in Niceville.

19-year-old Joshua Adam Smith lived in a home in the Swift Creek neighborhood while he worked a job in Niceville, according to a police report.

Both the complainants mentioned in the report and the victim say they want to file charges in the arrest document obtained by Mid Bay News.

An investigator from the Niceville Police Department determined that the victim and Smith knew each other from church.

After receiving a warrant, Smith’s phone was turned over to The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office so they could look for information regarding the case on the phone.

On the phone was a text conversation between Smith and the father of the alleged victim, in which Smith’s allegedly tells the father “I did something and I regret it.” A second message from Smith’s phone reads, “I left my phone recording in her room when she went to change, and she found it. I messed up, and I understand if you never want to talk to me again.”

Smith is charged with video voyeurism, a first-degree misdemeanor, in the case. He is expected to be in court for criminal arraignment on January 9th.
