Niceville had a second dominant win on the week – this time against district opponent Booker T. Washington in a Saturday afternoon game at Eagle Stadium.
Marek Albiero again led the Eagles in scoring. After a strong showing in the season opener against West Florida, Albiero rocketed six shots past the goalie. He also had two assists and an interception.
Defensive player of the game, Joey Henderson, had an assist to go along with yeoman’s defensive work on the turf. He scooped up eight ground balls and had three takeaways on the day.
Henderson’s ground game was only topped by the game’s highest ground ball getter, Dominic Barnshaw. Barnshaw was able to grab nine ground balls off the turf to go with his impressive offensive stats (four goals and two assists).
Christian Carlee, II also turned in an impressive performance – netting five goals, eight ground balls and a takeaway.
Unsung hero Gavin Gifford had a well-rounded game as well. Gifford put two goals away, made three assists, grabbed three ground balls, and had an interception.
The Eagles schedule will become more rigorous in the next week. The team faces Escambia County on Wednesday, February 23, and Pensacola two days later.
