Lt. General Michael Conley announced he had relieved Chief Master Sgt. Anthony Green on Monday for what Conley said in a statement was a “loss of confidence.”
As of April 16, AFSOC Public Affairs has not named a replacement for Green, nor an interim fill-in.
AFSOC Public Affairs did not say whether or not Conley’s order removed Green from the military. “Every situation is different. Removal from a position does not mean removal from the military,” A spokesperson for AFSOC said in an email.
According to AFSOC Public Affairs, there is no specific definition of what qualifies as an action or actions that would lead to a ‘loss of confidence.’

Chief Master Sergeant Anthony Green joined the military in 1995.
He moved up the ranks, achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant/Command Chief Master Sergeant on May 19, 2023.
He is a distinguished graduate of the Noncommissioned Officer Academy and earned both the Lt. General Leo Marquez Award and General Lew Allen, Jr. Trophy.
He began his tour of duty as the Command Chief of Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurlburt Field in May of 2023.
