General Overview of The Emerald Coast Autism Center

The Emerald Coast Autism Center (ECAC) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 which educates children with Autism using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Applied Behavior Analysis is the only approved method for teaching children with Autism.

The school serves children from grades k-2 full time and also includes specialty programs for other learners to use. Speech and occupational therapy are done on campus – which is located on the grounds of Northwest Florida State College.

A total of 85 children, ranging in age from 18 months to 17 years old, receive services or therapy from the educators and rehabilitation specialists at ECAC.

Children in the programs offered at ECAC receive a 1:1 student-to-therapist ratio up to 180 days per year. Classes are typically held Monday-Thursday, with some classes on Friday.

All staff are ABA-trained therapists, certified teachers or are taking coursework to earn their credentials in those fields.

Curriculum

ECAC’s curriculum is as varied as the children taught at the insitutation. The school uses Peak Relational Training, AIM, Autism Case Training (ACT), VB MAPP, and essentials for living.
