Northwest Florida State College is a post-secondary institution in Niceville, Florida, which also offers high school students an opportunity to earn both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree by the time they graduate from high school.
The school was established in 2000, and has received an A rating every year since from the Florida Department of Education. Collegiate High School was named the best school in the State of Florida in 2003, 2010 and 2011. Technically, the school is a charter school of the Okaloosa County School District – much like Destin High School or Okaloosa Academy.
99% of students who graduated from Collegiate in the class of 2022 earned an associate’s degree from Northwest Florida State College in addition to their high school diploma. While at collegiate – students have their pick of more than 250 classes the college offers.
Collegiate High School is free to attend for students. Students can use the same free benefits as other students, including free parking, and free admission to athletic events, cultural events and arts events.
Students who are accepted into Collegiate, as it is commonly referred to, spend their sophomore year in a mix of college and honors coursework. After their 10th grade year – the students plunge full-time into college-level coursework.
Students from Okaloosa, Walton and Santa Rosa Counties can all apply for this rigorous program which regularly sends students to prestigious colleges and universities such as Duke, Notre Dame, the Air Force Academy, Georgetown and Villanova.
An arduous and selective application process awaits students who wish to attend Collegiate. There are two programs of study available to students, the Pre-Collegiate Program and the Collegiate/Dual Enrollment Program. You can see the entire packet for the latest school year here.
Admission to collegiate requires students to take the ACT, SAT or PERT. It also requires students to submit their high school transcript to the Collegiate admission office.
Students can still compete in sports at their regional high schools while attending Northwest Florida State College. This means, for example, if a student is enrolled at Collegiate but is districted for Niceville High School – they may still play on the lacrosse or football team if they so choose.

Collegiate High School at Northwest Florida State College gives students the opportunity to earn their AA or AS degree while earning their High School Diploma.
Niceville High School serves students in Niceville, Valparaiso and on Eglin Air Force Base. The school offers a wide variety of sports, extracurricular and college-level courses.
The Rocky Bayou Christian School is a Christian School based in Niceville. The school is affiliated with three local churches and boasts athletic and extracurricular programs.
Teachers and administrators at Okaloosa Academy are charged with helping students who have encountered difficulties overcome issues and become productive members of society.
