Tiniest Patients Get Adorable Costumes for First Halloween

Infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast celebrated Halloween this week in handmade costumes. According to a press release from the hospital, nurses and caregivers crafted outfits for the babies, with themes including the “Hungriest Caterpillar,” “2 Peas in a Pod,” and a “Sweetest Snail.”

The hospital stated that while having a newborn in the NICU can be a challenging experience, the activity was intended to help families celebrate and make memories together during their hospital stay. The hospital identified itself as a Level II NICU that provides specialized care for families in Walton and Okaloosa counties.

Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast released photos of the infants, noting it had received permission from the parents. In its release, the hospital wished its “little pumpkins” and their families a happy Halloween.
