Historic Woman’s Club gets crucial boost for needed repairs.

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS – Eglin Federal Credit Union has donated $23,548 to the DeFuniak Springs Woman’s Club to fund renovations at its historic clubhouse. According to a news release, the credit union presented the check to the club on Oct. 22 to support the preservation of the facility, located at 23 S. Sixth Street.

The funds are designated for several building improvements, including electrical and flooring upgrades, insulation installation, interior painting, and attic restoration. The Woman’s Club, founded in 1915, uses the building to operate Fashions to Share, a non-profit thrift boutique, and as a headquarters for its volunteer activities.

In a statement, Woman’s Club board member Susan Smith said the building is a central gathering place for the organization’s mission and that the donation will help ensure its continued service to the community. Cathie Staton, President and CEO of Eglin Federal Credit Union, stated that the contribution is part of the credit union’s investment in the area, following the recent opening of its DeFuniak Springs branch.
