MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. — Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast announced this week that Healthgrades awarded it a Five-Star rating for Spinal Fusion Surgery for 2027. The rating pertains to the hospital’s specialty care in orthopedics. Healthgrades is a national organization that analyzes hospital performance based on clinical outcome data.
In a statement, Trey Abshier, president of Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast, attributed the rating to the hospital’s spine surgery care team. “We are proud of the quality care they provide to our patients that helped us achieve this honor,” Abshier said. The hospital also noted it holds a spine surgery certification from The Joint Commission.
According to the hospital, Healthgrades evaluates patient mortality and complication rates at about 4,500 hospitals nationwide. The organization’s five-star rating reportedly indicates that a hospital’s clinical outcomes for a specific procedure are statistically significantly better than expected.
