Okaloosa County Schools Stay Closed Until Thursday

The Okaloosa County School District (OCSD) announced that all schools and district facilities will remain closed on Wednesday, October 14th, due to Hurricane Isaias. Schools will resume on Thursday, October 15th.

The OCSD recognizes that many families and employees are still facing challenges after the storm, including power and water outages. This additional day off will allow families more time to recover.

They also explained that this extra day will provide more time to repair areas in employees’ classrooms and work spaces affected by the storm.

“OCSD remains committed to ensuring students return to safe, welcoming learning environments where they are prepared to succeed.”

This follows the Santa Rosa County School Board’s unanimous vote to remain closed through Friday, October 16th, after many schools in the district received immense damage from Hurricane Isaias.

The Walton County School District will continue reopening schools on Wednesday.
