EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Eglin Air Force Base’s newest senior noncommissioned officers faced a demanding test of leadership during Forge Week, a week-long professional development course designed to prepare technical sergeants for the responsibilities that come with senior enlisted leadership.
The course culminated in a field training exercise, putting the technical sergeants’ skills and leadership abilities to the test outside the classroom.
The following day, the airmen marked an important career milestone during a senior NCO induction ceremony, formally recognizing their transition into the senior enlisted ranks.
Forge Week is designed to help develop the skills, confidence, and leadership mindset expected of senior noncommissioned officers. The combination of professional development and field training allows participants to put those lessons into practice in a challenging environment.
For the technical sergeants who completed the course, the induction ceremony represented more than the completion of a training program. It marked their transition into a new level of responsibility within the Air Force’s enlisted force.
Senior NCOs play an important role in developing airmen, advising commanders and helping lead units through the day-to-day challenges of military operations.
