An Okaloosa County man faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after deputies say he exposed himself in public and violently resisted arrest.

Holt Man Accused of Lewd Act and Assaulting Deputies During Arrest

HOLT — An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy responding to reports of a man exposing himself along a roadway in Holt Wednesday afternoon arrested the suspect after authorities say he resisted, assaulted deputies, and continued combative behavior throughout the arrest.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area of Third Avenue near Johnson Street around 12:30 p.m. on July 8 after receiving complaints about a man exposing himself and committing a lewd act in public.

When the first deputy arrived, investigators say the deputy found 31-year-old Xavier Stachowiak lying on the ground while committing a lewd act.

Deputies said they informed Stachowiak he was under arrest, but he refused commands and resisted. During the encounter, authorities allege he attempted to strike a deputy with his elbow and also spit at responding deputies. Because of his behavior, deputies placed an anti-spit mask on him while taking him into custody.

The Sheriff’s Office said Stachowiak continued to act combatively before he was eventually subdued and transported to the Okaloosa County Jail.

Investigators said two witnesses signed affidavits describing what they observed before deputies arrived.

Stachowiak faces the following charges:

  • Three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer
  • One count of resisting an officer with violence
  • Two counts of exposure of sexual organs
  • One count of disorderly intoxication

The charges are allegations, and Stachowiak is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
