Thomas brings more than three decades of coaching experience to Niceville, including multiple head coaching stops and four state championship titles during his career in North Carolina. Locally, he is perhaps best known for his successful run at Choctawhatchee High School, where he served as head football coach and athletic director for 13 seasons before stepping down in 2020.

Niceville Head Football Coach Adron Robinson said Thomas’s experience and leadership will strengthen the Eagles program.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Thomas to the Niceville football family,” Robinson said. “His experience, leadership, and proven track record of developing student-athletes will be a tremendous asset to our program. Coach Thomas understands what it takes to build successful teams and strong young men, and our players will benefit greatly from his knowledge and mentorship.”

Niceville High School Principal Amy Meyer also praised the addition.

“Coach Thomas brings experience, knowledge, and a passion for developing young people,” Meyer said. “He will make a tremendous addition to our school community. We are excited for the leadership he’ll bring to our football program and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our student-athletes, both on and off the field.”

Thomas’s hiring adds significant coaching experience to a Niceville football program that has remained one of the region’s top contenders. School leaders said his championship pedigree and history of developing athletes will provide immediate value as the Eagles continue building on their tradition of success.

The addition reunites one of the Panhandle’s most recognizable football coaches with a high-profile local program as Niceville prepares for the upcoming season.
