Ryan Cabaniss is honored to name Carlos Moreno its “Niceville Good Neighbor” of the month.
If you’ve lived in Niceville for any length of time over the last two decades, chances are you’ve seen Carlos. You might know him as the friendly face behind the wheel of the brown UPS truck, but his roots in our town go much deeper than a delivery route.
Moreno became a Niceville resident in 1982 when his father was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base. He met his wife of 37 years (and still going!) at Niceville High School, Kelly. They’ve raised two children, Weston and Lily, in the town they call home.
Carlos’s commitment to service started early. After high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves while earning his degree from the University of West Florida.
While many know Carlos through his 34-year career at UPS, it’s the last 20-plus years spent delivering in Niceville that made him a local icon. In an era of quick interactions, Carlos chose to build what he calls “remarkable relationships.”
The impact of his kindness was recently made clear on social media, where a flood of “Word of Mouth” posts praised his dedication and expressed just how much the community would miss seeing him on his rounds.
“I had the privilege of delivering to this community and building remarkable relationships. After a long career with UPS, I have decided to retire. Thank you, State Farm, for this humbling nomination.” — Carlos Moreno
As Carlos hangs up the brown uniform to enter a well-deserved retirement, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you, Carlos, for being the personification of a Good Neighbor. You’ve delivered much more than parcels to Niceville—you’ve delivered kindness, reliability, and friendship.
Please join all of us at Ryan Cabaniss State Farm in congratulating Carlos Moreno on his retirement and his recognition as our Niceville Good Neighbor!
