CRESTVIEW, Fla. — A major retail expansion is coming to North Crestview as Walmart prepares to officially break ground on a new Neighborhood Market, bringing expanded grocery access, new jobs, and added convenience to area residents.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 9 a.m. at the future store site located at 1150 Industrial Drive, situated between El Paso Tacos & Tequila and Eglin Federal Credit Union.
Walmart leaders say the new location represents a continued investment in Florida communities and a commitment to providing convenient access to everyday essentials.
“Walmart is proud to break ground on a new Neighborhood Market in Crestview, reinforcing our commitment to serving customers and investing in the communities we call home,” said Derald Cupp, Market Manager for Walmart Neighborhood Markets. “This new store will provide convenient access to fresh essentials and support local families with a modern and elevated shopping experience close to home.”
Cupp added that Florida remains a key market for the company’s long-term growth, with Crestview positioned as an important community partner for years to come.
Development leaders involved in the project also praised the collaboration between Walmart and city officials during the planning and construction process.
“We’ve greatly enjoyed doing our small part in bringing new development, services, and jobs to the City of Crestview,” said Kevin Rogers, Principal at WRS, Inc. Real Estate Investments. “The professional culture at City Hall has made this project possible, and we’re delighted to become a new neighbor in town.”
City leadership echoed the enthusiasm, highlighting the benefits the new store will bring to North Crestview residents and surrounding communities.
Mayor JB Whitten said the project will significantly reduce travel time for residents who previously needed to drive across town for grocery access.
“Crestview residents living on the north side will have a Walmart nearby, which means less driving to the south end of town,” Whitten said. “This market will not only serve our north side residents but also those from nearby towns like Baker and Laurel Hill.”
The groundbreaking event is open to the public, with community members invited to attend and celebrate the latest addition to Crestview’s growing commercial corridor. El Paso Tacos & Tequila will sponsor a taco bar at the event as a welcoming gesture to their new neighbor, with drinks also being served during the ceremony.
Construction on the new Neighborhood Market marks another step in Crestview’s ongoing economic development efforts and continued retail growth across the region.
