Niceville, FL — The Niceville Police Department announced the arrest of Officer Coty Hall following an internal investigation into the misuse of law enforcement databases.

On Friday, October 10, 2025, Officer Hall was arrested and charged with violating Florida State Statute 815.06 (2)(A), which addresses offenses related to unauthorized access or misuse of computer systems, computer networks, and electronic devices.

The arrest stems from an internal audit conducted between January and October 2025, which identified several instances in which Officer Hall allegedly accessed personal information through various law enforcement databases without authorization.

According to the department, the information obtained through these unauthorized searches was used to harass a fellow law enforcement officer and that officer’s spouse. The department initiated the internal audit after receiving concerns regarding potential misuse of database access privileges.

Upon discovering irregularities in database access patterns, the department’s administrative division worked with its technology and compliance units to verify the scope of the alleged misuse. Once sufficient evidence was collected, the case was referred to investigators for review and ultimately led to Hall’s arrest.

“The Niceville Police Department remains committed to maintaining public trust and accountability,” said Chief of Police Mark Hayse. “We take any allegations of misconduct seriously and ensure they are addressed through a transparent and thorough process.”

Chief Hayse added that the department’s internal oversight procedures are designed to detect, investigate, and address violations of policy and law when they occur.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as it continues. The department stated that no further details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.

The Niceville Police Department reiterated its ongoing commitment to transparency and ethical law enforcement practices.
