Someone, law enforcement is not sure whom, made a bomb threat against Northwest Florida State Collegeβs campus in Niceville on Thursday morning, July 14th.Β

The threat specifically targeted Building 410. The building is at the campus’s physical center and is home to many of the collegeβs student resources programs.Β

EARLIER THIS YEAR: Bomb Threat Called into Bluewater Elementary School.Β

βUpon identifying the threat, our campus security personnel immediately notified the Niceville Police Department and the Okaloosa County Sheriffβs K-9 unit,β said Northwest Florida State College Chief Communications Officer Bryan Brooks, βPolice investigated the scene, sweeping the area thoroughly. [Law enforcement] indicated that the building was safe to re-enter around 1 PM.β

NWFSC was not the only higher learning center to receive a threat today – WCTV in Tallahassee reports a similar threat was made against Florida State Universityβs campus. Police evacuated the Stone building on campus. No one was hurt in the incident, either.Β

On Wednesday, July 13th, two campuses of Eastern Florida State College; in Cocoa and Palm Beach closed temporarily in response to a bomb threat.Β

A Facebook post from Eastern Florida State College told students, βPolice say the FBI believes the local bomb threats are part of a nationwide series of threats that have proven to be hoaxes originating from Ethiopia.β

The Niceville police department is the primary investigating agency on the case, according to Brooks.Β
