The Northwest Florida Ballet (NFB) will hold auditions later this month for incoming third and fourth-grade students interested in attending its tuition-free Académie program during the 2025-2026 school year.
The program, operated in partnership with the Okaloosa County School District, combines academic instruction with daily ballet training. It is open to students entering grades three through eight, with spring auditions currently scheduled for those entering third and fourth grade.
Auditions for incoming third-grade students will take place on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Sunday, April 27, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Auditions for incoming fourth-grade students will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Registration is required to audition and must be completed online by 2 p.m. on April 24. Appointments are required and walk-ins will not be accepted.
According to the program’s published requirements, incoming third-grade students need not have prior dance training. Evaluations for these students will be based on rhythm, flexibility, coordination, enthusiasm, and interest in dance. Incoming fourth-grade students must have completed one year of formal ballet training.
Audition attire is specified by grade and gender. Female third-grade students should wear a solid-colored leotard or one-piece swimsuit, without tights, with hair in a bun. Female fourth-grade students should wear leotards and pink tights and have hair in a bun. Male students should wear fitted bottoms or shorts with a fitted T-shirt and have hair neatly pulled back from the face.
The program evaluates student continuation based on progress in classical ballet, physical ability, attendance, and behavior.
