The Taylor Haugen Foundation Named Senior Lacrosse Player Garrison LeMire their 2023 award winner with a surprise announcement at Niceville High School’s cafeteria Wednesday morning.
LeMire, a Midfielder for the Lacrosse team, received the Trophy as well as a scholarship for the honor. He’s received admission into Texas A&M University and will make his decision about where he will go to school, once he hears back from Duke and UNC. According to the Taylor Haugen Foundation, LeMire “hopes to one day work with special operations in a cognitive way, or teach at the college level.”
The Taylor Haugen Foundation, established in memory of a high school student who died from a traumatic abdominal injury during a football game, focuses on educating, protecting, and inspiring youth. Through the YESS© Program, the foundation promotes sports safety by providing equipment to prevent abdominal injuries in contact sports. Additionally, they recognize scholar-athletes with scholarships, aiming to raise awareness and support for the next generation of abdominal injury protection. The foundation’s mission is to educate players, parents, and coaches, protect youth athletes, and inspire future leaders in sports.
