Night Operations Will Be Launching at Eglin

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE — Residents across portions of Okaloosa County may hear increased aircraft activity next week as fighter pilots conduct nighttime training missions out of Eglin Air Force Base.

According to Eglin officials, the 58th Fighter Squadron is scheduled to conduct night flying operations from June 15 through June 17. Training flights are expected to take place between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. each evening.

The operations will involve fighter aircraft flying in the area as part of required military training exercises.

Eglin officials said night flying is a critical component of pilot readiness and allows aircrews to train under conditions they may encounter during real-world missions.

Residents may notice increased aircraft noise during the training period.

Those seeking additional information can contact the Eglin Air Force Base Public Affairs Office at 850-882-4485.
