A tough win capped off a successful regular season for the Niceville Eagles boys lacrosse team last week. The Niceville Boys Lacrosse team eked out a 12-11 win against Tallahassee’s Lincoln High School at home. Junior Gavin Gifford delighted the crowd with an admirable three-goal, three-assist performance on the night. Senior and Palm Beach Atlantic Lacrosse commit Dominic Barnshaw continued doing what he does best – scoring goals and scooping ground balls. The athletic midfielder had five goals on the night and 12 groundballs.
Now, the Eagles are on to the district playoffs for a right to continue into the postseason.
The team will play the winner of the Washington and Navarre High School game that takes place on Monday, April 11th. Niceville was without question the better team in the regular season games it played against the Washington Wildcats and the Navarre Raiders. Niceville trounced Booker T. Washington 23-3 and blasted Navarre 15-3.
Niceville plays that first district game against the winner of Navarre/Washington on Tuesday night at 8pm in Niceville.
The real challenge will come against the Eagles’ most likely district finals opponent – Chiles. The Chiles Timberwolves Lacrosse Team bested Niceville in Tallahassee 7-6 in an overtime game. The Eagles were coming off an emotional overtime win against rivals South Walton High School a couple of days before.
Niceville High School is the one seed in the tournament – so they will play at home throughout.
