A fatal head-on collision at Mile Marker 16 on State Route 285 in Walton County claimed the life of a 49-year-old Brocton, Alabama, woman. Her passenger, a 16-year-old Brocton resident, and the other car’s driver in the accident, a 70-year-old Fort Lauderdale Man, were injured in the crash.
Florida State Troopers investigating the crash, which took place On Sunday, February 11, at about six in the evening, say the woman’s car entered the opposite lane of travel and hit the Fort Lauderdale man’s car.
All people involved in the crash wore seatbelts during the accident.
Another fatal crash took place in this area on November 10, 2023. In that incident, a motorcyclist and an SUV collided head-on as well. Both the motorcyclist and driver of an SUV died in the crash. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet during the incident. The SUV Driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
Florida Highway Patrol reported in that accident that the cause of the fatal crash was the SUV entering the lane of travel for the motorcycle.
