Until Polls Close for Florida's Presidential Primary Election

Get Your Okaloosa County Election 2024 Information Here!

There are dozens of offices to vote for through a four year cycle of elections in Niceville, Bluewater, Eglin AFB or Valparaiso. So many that’s its a little difficult to remember them all.

This year, though, it seems that most of the offices that voters could, in theory, vote for won’t have elections.

Voting is more than just getting a sticker and showing it off on social media. It can be a TON of research. Luckily, we did all of the research (and cited our sources) for you!

So far, only one candidate has filed for election in the following races. (I) denotes they are the incumbent.

  • Clerk of Court and Comptroller | Brad Embry
  • Sheriff | Eric Aden (I)
  • Tax Collector | Ben Anderson (I)
  • Property Appraiser | Mack Busbee (I)
  • Superintendent of Schools | Marcus Chambers (I)
  • Supervisor of Elections | Paul Lux (I)
  • School Board District 4 | Tim Bryant (I)
  • Florida House Representative District 4 | Patt Maney (I)

That leaves just two local races for Niceville, Valparaiso, Bluewater Bay and Eglin Air Force Base residents to vote on: School Board District 2 and County Commissioner District 3. Check out the ‘2024 Races’ tab below to learn more about the candidates. Everything from their financial supporters to what they want to do in office can be found there.

If you want to learn more about the offices up for election themselves, click on the ‘Offices’ tab. All 30 or so offices in our part of Okaloosa County can be found there – we have descriptions and requirements, too.

Finally, as you ask more questions about the elections process in Okaloosa County and Niceville, Valparaiso, Eglin and Bluewater – we will add more answers to the FAQ. Click there for the answers to the questions you have about local elections.

Thanks for exercising your right to vote!

Registering to Vote

If you are looking for how to register to vote – you have to do it in person. But, the Florida Division of Elections makes it (relatively) painless to do. You can print out a form at that link, or just go straight to the Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Office in either Shalimar (1250 Eglin Pkwy #103, Shalimar, FL 32579) or Crestview (302 Wilson St N Suite 102, Crestview, FL 32536) to register to vote.

Ultimately, there are only four requirements in the State of Florida to vote:

  1. You must be a US Citizen
  2. You must be a legal resident of the State (for statewide offices), District (for district-specific offices like US and Florida House members) County (for countywide offices) or municipality (for city offices like mayor or councilperson).
  3. You must be 18 years old.

You must not have a felony conviction or be judged incompetent by a court without first having your rights restored.
