PENSACOLA – Gov. Ron DeSantis announced two new assistance programs Monday for residents recovering from Hurricane Isaias. During a press conference in Pensacola, the governor’s office detailed plans to provide temporary shelter for displaced families and one-time financial aid for first responders personally affected by the storm.
According to the announcement, the state is partnering with the nonprofit Emergency RV to provide temporary shelter trailers to eligible residents with significant home damage. The governor’s office stated that the program has received nearly 300 applications and that residents can apply for assistance at EmergencyRV.org.
DeSantis also announced that eight first responders in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties would receive one-time $5,000 grants. The governor’s office said the aid is being provided through a partnership with the Florida Disaster Fund and the Florida Sheriffs Association. State officials are also awaiting a federal decision on a Major Disaster Declaration request, which could make additional recovery assistance available to impacted communities.
