DeSantis Appoints Shalimar Resident To Judgeship

Governor Ron DeSantis announced Tuesday the appointment of John Reed to serve as a judge on the Okaloosa County Court.

Reed, a resident of Shalimar, currently serves as a General Magistrate for Florida’s First Judicial Circuit, a position he has held since 2023. Before his appointment as magistrate, he was a partner at Remol Reed, P.A., a private law firm.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and earned his law degree from the University of Florida.

Reed fills the seat on the county court left vacant by the elevation of Judge Angela Schlechter to a higher court.

The appointment is one of four judicial selections Governor DeSantis announced Tuesday.
